Alt-J recently celebrated An Awesome Wave’s Anniversary with an international digital concert and launched a new podcast. The band stated, “It’s been such a great year promoting both The Dream and An Awesome Wave’s tenth anniversary that we have decided to extend the party into 2023.” Alt-J added that the band would be performing the albums entirely for the first time in the U.S.

An Awesome Wave was released in 2012 via the independent music label, Infectious Music. The unprecedented debut album spawned several of Alt-J’s biggest hits, including “Breezeblocks,” “Tessellate,” “Something Good,” and “Fitzpleasure.” The critically-acclaimed record was praised for its unique approach to fusing alternative, pop, folk, and electronica. Upon its release, the album topped the U.K. Indie chart and peaked at number 15 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. The album later earned platinum status in the U.J. and Australia and gold in the U.S. and Canada. An Awesome Wave also earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious British Mercury Prize and an Ivor Novello Award. Meanwhile, the single “Breezeblocks” won Best Alternative Video at the U.K. Music Video Awards.
