Ari Lennox recently made waves with her appearance on The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon. The R&B songstress performed her latest singles, “POF” and “Waste My Time,” featured in her sophomore album Age/Sex/Location. The album, released in September 2022, entered the Billboard 200, peaking at number 69. Meanwhile, the album also charted on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and peaked at number 13 on the Top R&B charts. The album also spawned Lennox’s gold-selling single, “Pressure,” which topped the Adult R&B songs chart.
Age/Sex/Location comes three years after Lennox dropped her breakthrough debut album, Shea Butter Baby. The 2019 effort peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and debuted at 38 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The record, which spawned hit singles “Shea Butter Baby,” “Whipped Cream,” and “BMO,” earned gold status in the U.S. after selling more than 500,00 copies.
In 2015, Ari Lennox recorded the song “Backseat,” featuring Dreamville Records’ compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers II. The critically-acclaimed album was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. The same year, Lennox received three Soul Train Music Awards nominations. In 2022, Lennox was nominated at the NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Female Artist. Although she didn’t win, Lennox remains one of R&B’s must-watch artists this 2023.
