Djavan Caetano Viana, or simply known as Djavan, is a six-time Latin Grammy nominee from Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil. Before his breakthrough, Djavan used to perform with a band called Liz, Som, Dimensao (Lught, Sound, Dimension). The band was known for paying tribute to the Beatles during their gigs. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro to work as a singer for soap opera soundtracks.

The singer-songwriter launched his solo career in the ‘70s and released his iconic debut album, A Voz, o Violao, a Musica de Djavan, in 1976. The highly-acclaimed record immediately gained plenty of traction in his home country thanks to the success of its lead single, “Flor de Lis.” In a span of almost five decades, Djavan has produced and released over 20 studio albums. In his 1999 effort, Ao Vivo sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide. In 2015, he released another critically-acclaimed Vidas pra Contar. The album led to multiple Latin Grammy Nominations for categories Record of the Year, Albums of the Year, Best Singer-Songwriter Album, and Best Portuguese Language Song. In 2018, he released another groundbreaking effort, Vesuvio. The record was ranked number 35th in Best Brazilian Albums of 2018 by Rolling Stone Magazine.
