Ella Mai is an English music artist who stepped into the limelight in 2014. She appeared on the 11th season of The X Factor, auditioning as part of a trio. Her distinct voice has scored her a record deal with renowned producer Mustard through his label, 10 Summer Records and released her self-titled debut album in 2018. The record spawned the hit single “Boo’d Up," peaking at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song later won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song while being nominated for Song of the Year. in 2019, she won three Billboard Music Awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female Artist, and Top R&B Song for “Boo’d Up.” In the same year “Boo’d Up” was released, Ella Mai also dropped another chart-performing single, “Trip.” The song peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs and Adult R&B Songs charts. Her two singles from her debut album later earned multi-platinum status in several countries.
Last year, Ella Mai released her sophomore album, Heart on My Sleeve. The album peaked at number 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and 15 on the Billboard 200. The record was preceded by the singles “Not Nother Love Song,” “DFMU,” and “Leave You Alone.”
