You must be living under a rock if you're saying you haven't heard "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster The People!?! Well, ten years have passed, yet people are still bobbing their heads and getting earworms from this wildly infectious single. The term 'viral' was a relatively new terminology in cyberspace back then, when "Pumped Up Kicks" was released and became one of the perfect representations of what "viral" stands for.

Working as a commercial jingle writer by day and struggling musician by night, Mark Foster formed a band in 2009 initially called Foster & The People. Audiences in the early gigs misheard them and started calling them "Foster The People". The name stuck and actually resonated better as it invokes the impression of "taking care" of people.

As the song "Pumped Up Kicks" was initially released on the band's website as a free download, it soon crossed over to mainstream radio. Soon afterward, record labels, club gigs, and music festivals soon came knocking on their doors. The band released their debut album "Torches" in 2010, which included this mega-hit, propelling the album to hit the No. 3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also ran on the fuel of succeeding hit singles like "Helena Beat" and "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)".

Awards and recognitions were soon on the tails of Foster The People. The album has garnered 35 nominations including two Grammy Award nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Pumped Up Kicks" and Best Alternative Music Album for Torches. The band scored five wins including the 2011 WEQX Award for Song of the Year, the 2011 SharkOne Award for New Artist of the Year, the 2012 Billboard music award for Top Rock Song and the 2013 MVPA Awards for Best Director of a Band and Best Computer Effects.
