Daniel Kang is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor who debuted in 2017 as a competitor in Produce 101’s second season. After the show wrapped up, Kang joined the show’s resulting boy group, Wanna One. Through Wanna One, Kang released six singles and one studio album. In 2017, the group released 1×1=1 (To Be One), which topped the Korean chart and entered the Top 10 of the Japanese chart. The effort was followed by two platinum-selling EP’s 0+1=1 (I Promise You) and 1÷x=1 (Undivided).

Following Wanna One’s dissolution, Daniel Kang pursued his color career. In 2019, he released his debut EP, Color On Me. The album was met with commercial success, topping the Korean chart. The record spawned the hit “What Are You Up To,” later earned double platinum status after selling more than 500,000 copies in South Korea. The following year, Kang dropped his sophomore EP, Cyan, which also peaked at number 1 in South Korea. The sophomore effort spawned two hit singles, “Touchin” and “2U.” The latter single peaked at number 7 on the Korean chart and entered Billboard’s Hot 100. Kang’s subsequent EP Magenta, Yellow, and Joy Ride performed well in the Korean charts.

In 2022, he dropped his debut album, The Story, debuting at number 3. The album, spawning the hits “Upside Down” and “Nirvana,” was met with critical acclaim. Kang appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to perform “Parade,” making him the first K-pop soloist to appear on a US Television talk show.
