Polyphia at The Wiltern

Polyphia is a primarily instrumental progressive rock band based in Plano, Texas, formed in 2010. The group consists of guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage, bassist Clay Gober, and drummer Clay Aeschliman.

Polyphia's sound is noted for incorporating virtuosic guitar parts with other styles of music. Initially rooted in a metal-focused tone in their early releases, the band's music evolved to a more progressive rock sound in their later productions, combining electronic music and hip hop, and even musical experimentations such as including flamenco guitar and funky rhythms. The band has a unique ability to make their instrumentals "speak", which really ingrains the sounds into the brain. Polyphia has released four studio albums as well as two EPs and numerous singles. Their fourth album, Remember That You Will Die, released in October 2022, was the first to chart, debuting at number 33 on the Billboard 200. Since then Polyphia's reputation has evolved and taken on a new form; their music appeals to the metalheads, the guitar geeks, and those that love more mainstream music.

The most recent release, Remember That You Will Die, features vocal performances hip-hop artist Lil West, Sophia Black, Chino Moreno from Deftones, and others. The album also includes a feature from guitar legend Steve Vai, which feels like a passing of the torch from a guitar master of the past to a guitar master of the future, as Polyphia's lead guitarist (Tim Henson) is considered by many to be one of the greatest players in the world today. People describe Tim's on-stage persona as mysterious but joyful, which is a captivating mix to see in an artist performing live.

When Polyphia takes the stage at The Wiltern on Wednesday 4th October 2023, they're sure to light the house on fire, so to speak. This is expected to be the kind of performance that people in your town talk about for weeks after. Previous dates of this tour have sold out very quickly, so it would be wise to grab your tickets now before you miss the chance!
