Shakey Graves, whose real name is Alejandro Rose-Garcia, is a hometown favorite in Austin, Texas. He spent his early years moving around local bars and clubs armed with a guitar and percussion instrument fashioned from a suitcase and kick pedal. He performed his songs all by himself, and the fans loved him for it.
Rose-Garcia also dabbled in acting, landing minor roles in films and TV series, such as Friday Night Lights and Spy Kids. However, he gave up his acting career to dedicate himself to music. The Americana musician is revered by many indie music-loving fans for his blend of rock, blues, folk, and country.
Rose-Garcia released his first album, Roll the Bones, in 2011. The record peaked at number five on the Billboard US Folk chart and number 11 on the US Indie chart. Three years later, And the War Came performed even better than its predecessor peaking at number four on the US Folk chart and number 8 on the Indie chart. His work with the sophomore album earned him an American Music Award for Best Emerging Artist. Lastly, Rose-Garcia’s latest work, Can’t Wake Up, charted at number nine and 13 on the US Folk and Indie chart.
