Ernest Greene, better known by his stage name Washed Out, was born in Perry, Georgia. After earning completing an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and earning a Master of Library and Information Science, Greene found difficulty finding work as a librarian and instead started to record songs in his bedroom – and aren’t we all glad he did!
Soon catching the attention of major music bloggers via MySpace, he was signed to SubPop in 2011, and released his debut album, “Within and Without,” in the same year. Since then, he has continued to delight chillwave lovers the world over.
